INTRODUCING INIM
Introducing our side table INIM, the first addition to our furniture collection at JOSI. In light of the upcoming launch, here are more details on the inspiration, process and story behind its creation.
With the core idea to create simple, practical and sustainable furniture, INIM was designed out of a need rather than a want. To change the way we design and make. It represents our intention to create with care, and to produce with purpose. Every aspect is carefully considered to ensure it serves that purpose without unnecessary complexity. INIM is a testament to our belief that furniture can be both beautiful and responsible.
The intention to simplify and minimise guided the design to become a refined balance of form and function—led by a form follows function approach. By first focusing on how it would be made and used, the design naturally took shape, allowing every element to serve a clear purpose.
The structure is built from just four elements: two squares, two circles, and a singular rectangular form all precision-cut from bamboo with minimal waste. This geometric clarity not only informs the visual language, but also allows for a more efficient and sustainable production process—less material, less energy, less waste.
Assembly is intentionally effortless. A simple slot system brings the four pieces together in four steps—no tools, no extra parts, no added complexity. Just as easily, it can be taken apart and reassembled, making it ready to go wherever you go and to whatever space.
And why a side table you may ask? Because it’s so versatile to any room or space. Whether placed beside an armchair, tucked next to your bed, or to fill a corner, INIM adapts to any need and lifestyle. Its simplicity allows it to blend seamlessly into various environments, while its well-crafted form ensures it never goes unnoticed.
INIM is a statement piece in more ways than one. Every detail reflects the philosophy that less can be more, and that even the smallest piece can make a meaningful impact. With INIM, we’re introducing a new standard for how things can be made—with care, with purpose, and with the future in mind.
